Which way is Up
Helping your child find direction - and the confidence to follow it.
At GGI, students learn to see what others miss. With Geographic Information Systems, curiosity turns into skill—tracking invasive species, planning cities, protecting fragile landscapes.
GIS is also a future. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 11% growth in geospatial jobs by 2032, outpacing most careers. ESRI calls GIS “central to everything from urban design to climate response.” Employers include state agencies, engineering firms, and global leaders like Google and Amazon. Entry-level pay often starts above $50,000, with specialists earning much more.
Whatever your child’s passion—science, art, technology or public service—GIS offers a pathway to turn it into meaningful work.
What We Offer
GGI has introduced GIS to more than 85,000 Louisiana students. Over 200 have completed courses, and more than 130 have earned industry-recognized GIS certifications—the only K–12 credential of its kind approved by the Louisiana Workforce Investment Council.
At GGI, students learn how to map, analyze, and better understand the world around them. Our courses grow with them—from foundational skills to advanced applications—blending technology and creativity, with purpose.
Our Courses
GIS 101: Introduction to GIS: Students build maps, collect school-based data, and tell stories with technology using Microsoft Excel and ArcGIS Online. They complete hands-on projects and earn a Microsoft Excel certificate along the way.
GIS Entry Level: Using ArcGIS software, students explore spatial data analysis and real-world problem solving across fields like urban planning and environmental science. They gain a strong foundation in digital mapping and basic app development.
GIS Entry Level 3: Drones to Smart Mapping: Students go beyond flying drones to creating orthomosaics—high-resolution aerial maps. They learn to turn drone data into insights for agriculture, climate analysis, and city planning.
